Great help in the effort to quit. August 17, 2010 Bradley Herring (Iowa USA) This product is a great smoking cessation aid. Calms your nerves while you try to quit!
cheap but... August 4, 2010 Deniz I bought 6 boxes, they were cheap but the expiration date has passed 4 months ago when I bought them.
COMMIT & WILL POWER EQUALS QUITTING FOREVER June 20, 2010 G. Gibbs (U.S.A.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There is no magic bullet but this worked for me. No product, therapy, hypnosis will work unless you truly desire to quit. After a 30 year addiction I didn't say that it was easy. Look-up will power in the dictionary and I guarantee you will not find my picture next to it. I loved my Marlboro's. The smooth flavor that I craved the second that I woke up. Ten cigarettes with my morning cup of coffee. They were my best friend. Leaving the house, make sure you have enough. Marlboro uses a super nicotine to make their product even more addictive. Enough is enough. I'm spending $300.00 a month plus on this filthy habit. Tried internet pricing to save money. You get junk cigarettes from Russia, shipment seized at the port with a nasty letter from Customs and the State wants to whack you for hundreds of dollars in owed taxes. Definitely not worth it. Weed is cheaper not that I recommend it. The first 3 days was pure torture. I'm using Commit every 2 hours. It gave me that jolt of nicotine that my body was craving so I didn't need a cigarette. By the 4th day the desire was much less. I'm thinking that I can really do this. Fast forward. Thirteen months later I am totally smoke free with no desire for a cigarette. I feel healthy and that dreaded morning cough is gone. Don't be weak. The price of Commit is less than what a carton of cigarettes would cost. You can do it. Put an end to cigarettes once and for all. Highly recommended.
If you're ready these will definitely help April 12, 2010 Jen (Ohio) I think the most important thing is that you be READY to quit and that you WANT to quit, as some other reviewers have pointed out. I also think these probably work better if you only take them when you feel the urge to smoke, instead of the 9 or more a day it recommends. After the first lozenge I didn't think I'd be able to use these, I hated them, and the directions say not to swallow, so I ended up with a mouthful of foamy saliva which was obviously disgusting. My second lozenge was better (I stopped trying so hard NOT to swallow) but I still didn't finish the whole thing. After that I got used to them. I think less and less about smoking every day, and I'm not a raging lunatic (or 10 lbs heavier) like I thought I'd be.
I've been taking them for a little over 2 weeks and I only take between 3-5 a day (I smoked a pack a day, sometimes more) and that's plenty. I do suck on mints or jolly ranchers sometimes throughout the day instead of a lozenge, just to keep from taking too many. Some people (here and on other sites) have complained that they are now addicted to the lozenges. You still need to have will power to quit, these aren't a magic solution, nor should they become a new habit. I have a feeling that if you take as many as the instructions tell you, you're more likely to get hooked on these. However you DO need to follow the instructions not to bite, chew or swallow them, of course you're going to get an upset stomach if you do that. That said, even using them correctly does cause gas, which is another good reason to wean off them as soon as possible! Good luck!
Best product of its type, period. But beware...it's addicting, too. April 6, 2010 MegaReader (Virginia, USA) Commit Lozenges are very addictive. As long as you understand that and deal with it maturely, they can really get the job done of quitting smoking. I am celebrating my one-year anniversary of sucking on my last lozenge by writing this review. Yes, it can be done! However, it took me three YEARS to quit the lozenges.
The lozenges are much, much, much more effective than the gum or patches. There is really no comparison. In the first week or two, the lozenges kill about 80 % of the urge to smoke, and then after a few weeks, 100 %. It gets to a point where you'd much prefer the lozenge to a cigarette, because the lozenges have most or possibly all of the satisfaction of smoking a cigarette, with none of the outward side-effects such as smell, social stigma, etc. In fact, once you have a big pile of lozenges laying around, there is no real reason or desire to smoke cigarettes. They provide a nice, even, satisfying nicotine feed that is far superior to the extreme ups and downs of smoking a cig and then not getting to smoke another one for a while.
And therein lies the challenge, because the lozenges are so satisfying to the nicotine craving that they are very addicting. They are as addicting as cigarettes, in the same sense that you want one as soon as you finish the last one. I found myself taking a break from lozenges by having an occasional cigarette. That's how twisted it gets - you end up smoking to try to break the habit of taking the lozenges. Think of the lozenges as extremely expensive cigarettes that will just give you mouth cancer instead of lung cancer.
At some point, of course, you just have to make the decision to get it over with once and for all, and STOP. It will be hard. It's probably easier to do it with the lozenges than cigarettes, but it's not a cakewalk. You have to want it. Really want it. Standing in your way is the fact that it is a lot easier to pop another lozenge than to change your life. But the upside of lozenges is, I think, that while it takes months for your brain to adjust to life without cigarettes, I think the brain can kick the lozenge habit in 3-4 days, with another 4-8 weeks of general nicotine longing that is not quite as intense but is still uncomfortable and challenging. Be prepared for a a couple of uncomfortable, challenging months. It is insanely difficult to not have anything in your mouth, after however many years you were used to having cigarettes and then the lozenges. I highly recommend Altoid mints to transition from the lozenges to, eventually, nothing. Altoids are so strong they almost burn your mouth, thus masking the weird longing for nicotine that you feel in your mouth for a few months. Nothing else has that strength to fully mask the nicotine craving.
